SoCIETIE @ McCusker Institute

The SoCIETIE curriculum initiative at the McCusker Institute brings together campus and community to engage with Social Change, Impact, Engagement, Transitions, Inclusion and Equity issues, learn practical tools for transdisciplinary problem-solving, and create positive change through authentic projects and collaborations.

Expression of Interest#

We are looking to build our first cohort of 25 students in the McCusker Institute Semester 1 2025. Students can come from all year levels and all academic areas of the University.

Students wishing to join SoCIETIE @ McCusker are required to submit a brief personal statement (150-200 words) that might include:

• what kind/s of change you would like to create in your community
• what skills you would like to develop to enable the change
• potential project partnerships (including clubs, societies, communities or external groups)
• transdisciplinary topics or themes you would like to explore
• the motivation for engaging in a self-directed learning environment

Timelines#

• An initial call for Expressions of Interest will close 31 January 2025.
• Additional EoIs may be submitted for Semester 1 close Friday of O-Week
• Successful applicants will be notified and issued with a permission code on an ongoing basis.
• Late applications will be considered on a case-by-case basis if places are available.
• Further cohorts will be announced on an ongoing basis.
